About Us
Motorcycles 2 Hire was established in 2008 and specialising in the rental/hire of motorcycles for the purpose of touring and adventure. European travel therefore is permitted and all of our bikes can be supplied with luggage. We are proud of our reputation as not only supplying reliable, clean and well maintained motorbikes but also for the service our customers receive. We are here to help you have the most enjoyable experience possible, so if there is anything you would like us to help you with from selecting the right bike, to extra equipment that may be required you only need ask.
Rider Requirements
Learner riders must have a valid Provisional licence with a current CBT certificate. Full licence holders may hire any of our bikes subject to having the appropriate licence and meeting the minimum age required. Convictions and Penalties on your driving licence must be declared at the time of booking, failure to notify us may lead to the cancelation of your hire with no refund. Foreign riders must have held a full motorcycle licence in their own country for at least 2 years and we prefer to see an IDP (International Driving Permit) showing your motorcycle entitlement.
Hire Periods
One day is equal to a 24 hour period. Weekend hire runs from Friday to Monday and Midweek hire runs from Tuesday to Thursday. For simpicity of booking, collection is available from 12:00 noon and the bike needs to be returned to us by 11:59. If you need to collect the bike a little earlier or drop it back a little later just ask us upon booking and we will do our best to help.
Clothing & Accessories
Motorcycle Helmets, Gloves, Jackets, Trousers and Boots are all available for hire from just £5 per item for the legnth of your hire period. Any damage to clothing will be charged for and deducted from the security deposit. Other accessories are also available to hire such as Rider 2 Rider Intercoms, Sat-Nav holders and Camping Equipment. These items are also available to purchase from us should you prefer, as our Motorcycle Travel Shop is now open for business 5 days a week. Open times 10:30-17:30 Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri. 09:00-12:00 on Sat.
Insurance & Security deposit
Prices quoted include road risk insurance only, personal injury insurance is not included. In the event of an accident your security deposit will be kept by us to repair or go towards replacing the bike, the maximum cost to you will be your deposit plus a recovery fee (if required). If the accident or damage is proven to be a direct result of dangerous and/or careless riding you will be liable for the full cost. Where the cost of repair is less than the deposit you will be refunded the balance. If you can't afford the security deposit an alternative option is to leave your own car or motorbike with us, complete with the log book and keys.
Back to Biking
We're here to help promote safe and responsible riding, which is why our "Back to Biking" course can be of massive benefit to you and certainly recommended to those riders that have been off a bike for 3 or more years. Attending this course through us still allows you to choose your prefered bike from our fleet but for a small additional fee we can bring your biking skills back up to speed, thus helping to keep you and those around you safe. You can take advantage of our professional guide rider and get yourself riding confidently again in no time at all.
Motorcycle Trials Activity
As well as Motorcycle Hire we also offer Trials Bike Riding. This off road motorcycle activity is available all year round for groups of like minded people to come and enjoy. Motorcycle Trials is a truely great way to build confidence and improve your overall riding skills, as it helps create a far better understanding of how a bike can be controlled in a variety of situations using effective throttle/clutch control and changes in body position for better balance and traction. Where are we?
We are just off the A30 at Fatherford Farm, Okehampton, Devon, EX20 1QQ (approx 20 minutes from Exeter) and situated on the north side of the beautiful Dartmoor National Park. We have the perfect starting point for riders wishing to explore the Southwest of England, the UK and even Europe with ferries departing from Plymouth to France and Spain. We can deliver and/or collect your hire bike from any of the numerous airports, train and bus stations within the Southwest or you can drive to us and leave your car in our car park for free. Collection from larger international airports is also possible.
